I have bred and shown Dalmatians for 10 years. I never registered a Kennel Name before so Dalamanti is fairly new. In case you who haven't already figured it out, Dalamanti is an anagram of Dalmatian. Thanks to my sister Marie for the idea! All my life I have adored these dogs and at 16 years old my parents gave in and let me have my first dog, Polo (above), and then the the fun started. I was so proud to have my own Dalmatian at last that I wanted to show him off. I took him to Devon County Show, where he won his class and got Best of Breed. When I entered him in his first Championship show he came 3rd out of 15, qualifying for Crufts. That's when I started to get really addicted to showing.
I continued to show him with success for about 8 years. Unfortunately in 2007 Polo had an accident and had his tail partially amputated, so I cannot show him anymore.
But every cloud has a silver lining because that's when I decided to buy a bitch to show. Along came Chelsea from the quality Marricdale lines thanks to Maree Kenyon. I am taking her to shows at the moment and so far she is doing well. She attended Crufts this year and was placed reserve (4th) in a quality class of 19 entries, also has been well placed at shows small and large, including several Best of Breeds and Utility Group placings at Open shows. We plan a great career ahead, so watch this space!
I have also bred my first 'Dalamanti' litter in spring 2010 and am very proud of such a lovely bunch of puppies with superb temperaments. I have kept a black & white bitch, Malibu, to show alongside her mother. She will be out in the ring in November.
